Levi, Primo

Born in Turin (Torino) in 1919, received Ph.D. in chemistry in 1941, joined an Italian partisan group in 1943, arrested by Fascist militia, deportation to Auschwitz in Jan. 1944, forced labor in the Buna/Monowitz concentration camp, liberation in the abandoned camp by the Red Army on Jan. 27, 1945, returned to Italy, worked as a writer until his suicide in 1987.
